Happy Thanksgiving!

Hey everybody! I just wanted to drop a quick note and say Happy Thanksgiving. Don't eat too much like I inevitably will. I'll probably down like 8 pieces of pie minimum but it's all good :-).

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!

32

Today marks the 32nd month that Dolores and I have been going out. HOW AWESOME IS THAT!! I just want to take a moment out of the day to blog about how awesome this relationship has been. I mean we've been together for almost 3 years and there has never been a dull moment. I mean sure sometimes we have our disagreements, but who doesn't? I just feel I have grown so much as a person. Not just literally but spiritually and mentally and everything. It has been such an awesome experience for me and I can't wait till school is over and we can settle down somewhere (somewhere warm, right D?). So I'd like to say, Dolores, I love you. Thanks for an awesome 32 months and I hope the next 32 months is more fun, and the next 32 months after that is even better! And the next 322 months will be awesome. The next infinity months! I LOVE YOU DOLORES!!!

Every Mom needs a George

Every Mom needs a George. Who is George you ask? And why does every mother need one? Well, I can answer the first question, the second one isnt as easy to answer though. George is the son that every mother wants. You know of the typical "momma's boy" but George is much much worse. They cling on to their mothers in a way that is almost sick and perverse. They will live at home their entire lives, and when their mother dies will descend into a state of mental instability. They will listen and do whatever their mom has to say, even if they don't want to. It's like a kid who never grows up. The Mother tells you what to do and you do it, even if you don't want to. A 45 year old man obeying his mother like a little sheep. It's a bit sad but it happens more than people like to admit.

Okay so here is George's life. He is born (usually it's the first or last born son that is most susceptible). He is somehow attached to his mother in a way that Freud would call an Oedipus Complex. It's that sick. Through their early years their mother feeds her thoughts into his brain and he can't possibly have a thought for himself. Progressing through the teenage years, he starts having less and less friends (who would want to be friends with someone who siphons thoughts from a 45 year old woman?). High School and College are a waste. Forget about moving out after college. No, George is there to stay, much to the chagrin of the father, who George hates by the way (Oedipus anyone?). Eventually, it gets to the point that George is in his forties and the mother is close to death. When the mother finally does pass on, George doesn't know what to do. His mother did everything for her, even thought for him and now she's gone. What is he going to do? Unfortunately, this is where the craziness happens. And I mean crazy. George becomes completely abnormal and literally could be institutionalized. It's a sad chain of events but it always happens. You may have noticed that during his life, George has had no sort of relationship with a woman. How can he? He is too attached to his mother.

All this is true too. Why do mothers do this? I know they want to be close to their kids, but this is absurd. I do not speak for all mothers I know. Some are of course worse than others. But every mom deep inside I think wants to have a son be around there forever. They never want their son to leave. I don't know why. Now you may say this doesn't happen but it does. Luckily, many men can escape the clutches of the mom and live happy lives with another woman. But some unfortunate ones get left behind, and those are the ones that we have to think of and hope that they can change and escape.

Happy Friday!

I love Fridays. Scary, but in a few Fridays from now I won't be taking any more SJU undergraduate classes. I'm on my way to not taking any finals and I have only a few more tests. That's all for now, I'm tired and I need sleep. I promise I'll blog about something deep later on today.

Movie Thoughts

You know, one cool thing about working in a movie theater is that I get two passes a week to see a movie. Of course, this means Dolores and I go to the movies once a week. In the past we saw Matchstick Men (Awesome movie), School of Rock, Intolerable Cruelty, Kill Bill Volume 1 and this week's movie: Elf. I thought Elf was going to be a silly movie, but it was honestly one of the funniest movies I've seen in the theaters in a loooong time. You really have to check it out. The movie just flew by and there really wasn't a dull moment. It got kind of stupid near the end, but you have to remember it's a kids movie and intended for young kids. In fact, when I went today, I'd venture to say that 75% of the audience was under the age of 10 (and it was quite an audience, it was close to a sell-out). Overall, I'd say you would probably be wiser to spend your movie money this week on Elf over any other movie out there (including the disappointing, or so I hear, Matrix Revolutions). It's a surprisingly awesome movie and an easy A in my book.

RED STORM SOCCER

One good thing about going to St. John's is the Men's Soccer team. They rule. Dolores and I were at the game today and it was simply awesome. St. John's won a thrilling game in the 95th minute (which means they won in OT). Overtime games are the best. Especially when the team you're rooting for wins! All I can say is that it's a shame SJU doesn't promote their best team (4th in the nation) and instead puts all its work and promo work to the basketball team which a)sucks and b) doesn't deserve it. But what can you do. Why would you want people to go to your best team's games? LET'S GO ST.JOHNS SOCCER!!! I urge you all to take the trip to UConn to support the Johnnies in their quest for yet another Big East Championship.

A Few Sentences for Thursday.

For the first Thursday this year I have to go to work tonight. On the second night of the Matrix, on a night when I have a huge Crypt test tomorrow. All I can say is I hope it's easy tonight and not too crowded. I worked last night and it was better than I had expected, but we shall see. Yeah I should be studying tonight, but lately I can't seem to get my work done. I always used to do it in advance, now I just can't motivate myself to do it. I guess I got a case of good ol' senioritis. I just can't wait to graduate. Now if only I had a job.

Messier

I just got back from the New York Ranger game and I think it might be the best sporting event I''ve ever been too. Mark Messier scored two goals tonight, his 1,850th point and his 1,851st point, to pass Gordie Howe and become the second all-time leading point scorer in NHL history. If there was ever a more historically significant game I've been too in terms of personal player achievement, please tell me because I can't think of anything coming close. Maybe it has to do with Mark being my favorite NHL player? Who knows. All I know is that this is the most excited I've been at a Ranger game perhaps ever. Think about it, in the 80 years of NHL hockey, Mark Messier just became the second all time leading scorer. I just can't believe I was there to see it. What a game.

Damn, it's good to be back to blogger. I have been a "very bad blogger" as Eric would say. Anyway, life is awesome. I have no complaints. Seeing as it's been better than two weeks since I've blogged, I'd throw in some highlights of the weeks past.

Oct 25th-Oct31st

Saturday started off early with a staff meeting at work. It was quite fun I must say. I was named runner-up for employee of the month. I worked in the morning but got off late (6:30ish) so when I went to pick up Dolores, original plans of going to see NYR/Detroit changed instead to staying home and watching the SJU Men's Soccer Team's last home game. I must say, I made the right choice. I'm not a big soccer fan by any means, but it's so much fun to chill w/D out in the open air like that watching SJU kick FIU's ass. Also, I blogged that night but the blog got lost when I clicked on something.

Brief tangeant/rant. Whenever I blog and it somehow gets "lost" in blogland, it usually pisses me off to the whole blogging thing and I usually take a 2-3-4-5 week hiatus. Sidenote over.

Sunday was a busy day just to catch up on all the homework I had to do. And I had to set all the clocks in my apartment (which is like 14 clocks). The school week usually flies by really quick and it seems I hardly have a moment to just relax. Monday I had work. On Tuesday night Dolores and I went to the NYR game against Anaheim with a friend of mine(John) and a girl he knows(Angela). on Wednesday I had work and a HUGE-ASS MIDTERM to study for in differential equations. Eric, say what you want about Calc3, but Calc3 is like a walk in the park compared to homogeneous equations and linear substitutions. So Thursday was the HUGE-ASS MIDTERM which I think I did really well on (I'll find out today in like an hour and a half from now). Later that night Dolores and I went to the NYR game against Carolina and it was an AWESOME game. LET'S GO RANGERS!!! Friday was Halloween and was actually the first Friday night I didn't have work at Loews. Dolores and I did what any college student would do. Go to Rite-Aid, buy lots of candy and eat it like we were kids again. Awesome. :-).

Nov1-Nov4

Saturday I worked ALL DAY. 12 hours. And it sucked. But I did it and am officially more of a man now. That's what I like to think b/c I can't possibly justify working 12 hours straight any other way. Sunday I worked too. Same with Monday. I hate working.

Okay so the recap kind of tapered off there. I'm sure I'm leaving things out which I apologize in advance for. Anyway, I'd like to take this moment to comment on Joe's recent blog In it, he decided to take time out of his busy day to write very nice things about me. I wasn't expecting it, and when Eric and I were ragging on him about his lack of blogging, I never expected this. So Joe, thank you. A few things to clear up. Joe claims I outclassed him in every class. That is not true my friend! To my knowledge in our 4 classes together, we've both gotten an A. I'm sure these three classes we're in now will result in the same. :-). Haha, I'm just picking nits now. But really, thanks Joe for the kind words. You're definitely one of the best friends I've made at SJU and I'm happy we had a chance to know each other. Comp Sci definitely wouldn't have been as fun if you weren't majoring in it either.

I know I say this at the end of every blog for the last 10 months, but I will try try try to blog more frequantly than my current 2-week clip. I'm off to do some Calc hw then go to Differential Equations. Then after class, it's time for a free movie. (Most likely will be Kill Bill this week, next week Matrix? who knows). Then New York Rangers vs. The Dalas Stars where Mark Messier is but 2 points away from becoming second all time in scoring in NHL history. Also, if anyone needs NYR tickets, don't hesitate to hit me with an email, I have plenty available.

This time I'm leaving for real. Have a nice day!
