Top Ten Movies

You know, sometimes I log on to Blogger ready to write an elaborate blog. Then the blank screen is there staring me in the face telling me to "Post Your Thoughts!" and I just forget everything I was going to write. So instead, I come here tonight presenting my Top Ten Favorite Movies!

1) Forrest Gump
Simply the greatest movie ever. If this movie doesn't make you think then there's something wrong with you.

2) It's A Wonderful Life
THE Best Christmas movie bar none. It's a family movie that teaches us the greatest lesson of all, that money doesn't make us rich, our friends and family do.

3) Taxi Driver
I know, from a cherry Christmas movie to this, possibly one of the more darker movies of all time. What an interesting look into the mind of a truly troubled individual. Brilliant

4) Goodfellas
I don't particularly like ganster movies, but this is perhaps the finest there is. I don't know what it is, but I can watch this movie 15 times in a row and not get sick of it. DeNiro, Liotta and Pesci are excellent and this movie is deserving of every award it won.

5) Count of Monte Cristo
I saw this movie for free in a sneak preview and was blown away. This movie is amazing. One of the best movies I've ever seen so far in the 00's. You have to see this movie. I've seen it at least a dozen times and still get really into the movie. It just grabs you and won't let go. Excellent

6) Lord of the Rings
I'll just combine the whole trilogy into one number (since it's really just one long movie broken up into three parts.) I think I have a deeper appreciation of this movie after reading the books, but even if you haven't the film is absolutely breathtaking. Though both are over three hours in length, never once did I get bored watching it. The first sets up the story brilliantly, while the second features the most intense fight scene ever witnessed. The CGI is amazing (Gollum seems tooo lifelike) and I'm really impressed how the movie follows the book almost to a tee. I eagerly await the final part of this brilliant trilogy.

7) A Hard Day's Night
This is considered the "Citizen Kane of Juke Box Musicals". Before this, musician movies followed this simple formula. star meets girls, star sings, star loses girl, more singing, star gets girl back and weds girl in final 3 minutes, more signing. I'm not lying. Check out any Elvis movie. This was different, it's simply a day in the life of the Beatles, their hectic touring schedule, the wild fans. It was rushed out to the theatres to capitalize on what they considered a fad and wouldn't last (see also: Spice World and From Justin to Kelly) but while all other movies were soundly panned by critics, this movie got 4 stars. I don't know what it was, the charmingness of the Beatles, the amazing music, or just the fun they seem to be having. A classic juke box musical.

8) This is Spinal Tap
Where The Beatles made the ultimate juke box musical, this movie was the ultimate in making fun of hair metal. This movie is highly recommended by almost any hair metaller and is probably one of the funniest movies I've ever seen. If you're a musician, or simply love to make fun of hair metal bands, WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! It has possibly the funniest scene ever with Nigel and the director looking at Nigel's gear. The amp going to 11 cracks me up all the time. I'm literally laughing just thinking about it!

9) Field of Dreams
Great movie. The male answer to a chick flick. If you watch it, you will enjoy.

10) Spider-Man
I've seen this movie about dozen times as well and it still excites me. What a great action movie. As a fan of Marvel comics I have a pretty firm understanding of all the characters and having seen all the Marvel movies it reflects the comics closely enough. X-Men was alright, Daredevil was just average, and all the pre-99 Marvel movies sucked to high heaven. Spider-man was different. It was absolutely mind-blowing to my comic-nerd brain. It not only captured the essence of the comic perfectly, it made you want to be Spider-Man. Toby McGuire Was great and possibly the best representation of any superhero to make it to the big screen. If you want to just sit and enjoy a great action-adventure movie with a great story. GET THIS!

That's it for tonight. Rent (or download) these movies for a good time. I'll be back later with other Top 10's and more blogging. Goodnight!

And The Waiting is Over!

We finally have a day that's summer like? Can this be? Man, what weather. I enjoyed it today by playing tennis with Dolores and even though I lost it was a lot of fun to just be out there. I hope there can be more days like this in the days and weeks to come.

In other news, my brother and I decided to get an apartment together (which my pops will pay for as long as Billy stays in college, cross fingers now). I just hope that we can get something nice and close to SJU. That's all I want. This should be really good as, even though my dad is still paying for it, I am almost officially out of the house now. I plan on getting a job when I graduate in Dec. and living with Billy till the end of the Spring semester than moving to my own place. Can you believe it? My own place. It seems so weird to say that. I'm not gonna be living at home anymore. I just have to say that even though I loved being at home, I'm 21 and it's time to move out. I can't wait on my ass at home and move with my parents. It's time I lived my life now.

Summer's Here

But the weather isn't. What is up with this weather anyway? I mean it;s June 22nd and I'm wearing my jacket more often that not. I'm just scared that we'll turn around and it'll be 100 degrees. No spring this year eh?

This weekend is going great though so far. Yesterday was just a day to relax and forget about my worries. Just hung out with Dolores, watched the first Harry Potter (GREAT movie) and just overall relaxing. I don't know what this week will bring but I'm hoping an apartment will land on my lap! I have a few numbers which I'm going to call on Monday. Pray that something good will come up!!

That's all for now, I'll throw something on here soon.

Summer Time Blues

Man, did Eddie Cochran ever nail it with that song. I'm really feeling the summer time blues. My parents have sold the house and moving upstate. In their infinite wisdom they have assured me I wouldn't miss anything but really what do they know? I'm going to miss everything. My whole life is down here in Queens.

Right now I'm looking for an apartment around SJU to live in for this year and possibly longer. I haven't found anything yet but with some good luck I am hoping to be in an apartment by the end of July. Wish me luck!

Other than that, the summer so far has been great! I've been hanging out with Dolores everyday. I've been able to organize a lot of the stuff (i.e. junk) in my room and get rid of the stuff I don't need. If not for moving, this would definitely be the best summer ever. In fact, my parents can move all they want. This still has been the best summer ever!
